If I wanted to get rich again as fast as possible, I’d start an agency.
I built and sold a multi-million-dollar agency from nothing. No funding, no fancy office, no connections.
It took me 15 years to figure it out.
But knowing what I know now, I’d do it in a few years, tops.
So I’ll try to save you the time: Here’s how to start an agency and actually make it work.
1. Pick a Niche and Own It
Every massively successful business started with a niche.
I know what you’re thinking… “If I appeal to more people, then that’s more potential customers.” But trust me, it will only result in less. Your marketing has to be niche to be effective.
When I started, I built the only agency in Hong Kong focused on digital. After the dot-com crash, people thought the internet was a scam. But we went all in on it, and because we were the only specialists, we dominated the market.
The brilliant thing is that you don’t have to stay locked in your niche forever. Amazon started with books, Airbnb started with one event in one city.
Once you establish yourself, you can expand, but in the beginning, you need to own one thing.
To help you pick the right niche, ask yourself:
- What do I enjoy doing?
- What problem do I care about solving?
- What do I find fun?
If you always keep these answers core to your mission, you’ll never lose your brand image.
2. Start with No Money
You actually don’t need more than $300 to start a business.
The trick is to learn how payments work. Here’s how:
Get a deposit upfront.
When negotiating a price, figure out your costs, tools, people, software, and charge that as an upfront payment.
The rest, charge upon delivery.
This is normal business practice. Big companies do it all the time.
The key is to be confident. If you don’t believe in yourself, clients won’t either.
3. Get Clients Through Referrals
Most people ignore the simplest and most effective method of getting clients: referrals.
So, I’ll tell you what the big secret is:
Just ask!
So many business owners never ask for referrals.
They work with great clients, do an amazing job, and then… nothing.
They don’t ask for an introduction. It’s free!
It works, and it builds trust instantly.
So next time you deliver great results for a client, ask: Do you know anyone else who could use our help?
You’ll be shocked at how often they say yes.
If you’re just starting, you can tell all your friends and contacts what you’re doing, how you’ll deliver value, and ask them if they know someone. Remember: all you need is one client.

Quote
Before I go, I just want to leave you with this quote from my book “What’s Your Dream”:
“A dream remains a dream until you take action, then it becomes your future.”
The first step doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to happen.
Messy action beats perfect hesitation every single time.
Take action. Take risks. Make your dream happen.
I hope this inspires you.
Thank you so much for supporting this mission.
See you next week.
Dream BIG,
Simon
