The Next Step #11: How to become luckier

Posted on2 April 202520 April 2025

Hello,

I was telling a friend the other day how lucky I’ve been on my journey.

We started talking about luck and how much of a role it plays in success.

I’ve discovered that luck isn’t a subjective thing. It’s hackable. You can actually make yourself luckier, and I want to show you exactly how.

Let me show you the 3 ways you can hack luck.

1. Know your destination

What does success mean for you? Define it.

It can’t be someone else’s version of success. It has to be your own.

For me, success today is simple. It’s being able to take my son to school and pick him up. It’s having time for exercise and to live life the way I want to.

That’s success for me now. That’s why I don’t sell hours.

So, ask yourself: what does success really look like for you? Define it clearly, and then go after it with everything you’ve got. When you define success, the path becomes clear.

2. Persist

Persistence isn’t about being the smartest or the most talented. It’s about outlasting the competition.

When I launched Fluid in Hong Kong, I had plenty of competitors.

But over time, they shut down or went bankrupt.

Because they didn’t care like I did. They weren’t as persistent.

If you’re willing to stay in the game longer, you’ll eventually win.

Luck is simply the result of persistence. Keep pushing forward, no matter what.

And the best way to stay persistent is to have a purpose and love what you do. That passion will keep you going when things get tough.

3. Learn to take risks

Here’s where it gets interesting. I want you to forget that saying: “The harder you work, the luckier you get.”

It’s a lie. If it were true, every hard-working person would be a millionaire by now.

What equals success isn’t working harder. It’s taking risks.

You’ve got to learn how to lean into fear.

The more you embrace it, the more you’ll start taking bigger risks. And the more risk you take, the luckier you get.

If you’re ready to take this to the next level, I go deeper into these principles in my video where I share everything I’ve learned about building a business.

It’s the biggest business video on YouTube and just hit 10 million views.

If you want to watch the full thing and dive into the details of how I’ve built my success and hacked my own luck, just click the image below.

Something to think about

A day of doing things is worth a month of planning to do them.

I see it all the time, people get stuck in overthinking and planning, waiting for the perfect moment to start.

But here’s the truth: you’ll learn more and get further in one day of action than in a month of preparation.

Just start! The real lessons come from taking steps, making mistakes, and adapting. That’s how you move forward.

Alright, that’s it for today!

I’m gonna go and eat some chicken now.

Simon
